A jumble of order and words

So, we are just about caught up in our blogging! I gotta tell you, I am looking forward to our 5+ hour car rides - it is easier to get work done in the car, rather than feel terribly rude walking into a dear friend's (or, sometimes, complete stranger's) home, say "Thanks for putting us up!" and then retreat into silence while writing, catching up on emails, and plotting out our next day. Ok, we aren't really that rude, and I think most people understand. But it will be wonderful to have hours to accomplish tasks rather than mere minutes (Ah, the convenience of the states comprising what we fondly call New England)!). I say that now - check back in with me after our first 7 hour drive.

For the sake of chronicling our journey in something that resembles logic, I have added the posts in the order they were intended to appear, i.e. on the day we served in a certain state and at a certain location. It may not stay that way, but it seem appropriate right now. Who knows, we may mix things up tomorrow.

  1. Hi Kristen and Tim. I want to tell you that what you are doing is amazing. I was reading the news on CNN.com and came across your blog. So many people now are retreating in to themselves, feeling sorry for their losses in the economy, and here you are! Traveling to all 50 states, and in 50 days no less! It is truly amazing. As a regular volunteer, seeing people like yourselves do so much for so many people makes me smile.

Keep up the wonderful work! And keep us posted on your volunteering. I live in Minnesota, so I really look forward to hearing about where you will be volunteering here.
    Cheers!

P.S. The weather is not too bad here this week :)

  2. Hi Amanda! Thank you so much for you kind words! We are getting so much from this project - meeting so many incredible people, learning from so many wonderful organizations, getting to see the country in one of the most positive lights. We feel greatful to be doing this everyday.

We will be volunteering at Upstream Arts in Minneapolis (http://www.upstreamarts.org/).

Glad to know the weather is being less tempermental - keep your fingers crossed for us!
